Richwood, Louisiana – Troopers from the Louisiana State Police Troop F started investigating a deadly two-vehicle collision on US-165 at Charleston Road just before 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. The crash resulted in the death of Christopher Pollard, a 44-year-old resident of Monroe, Louisiana.

Initial findings indicated that a 2020 Kenworth semi-truck, driven by 59-year-old Ricky Moffett, was heading south on US-165 in the left lane. Simultaneously, a 2005 Suzuki GSX motorcycle, operated by Pollard, was traveling north on US-165 in the left lane. The investigation is ongoing, but it appears that the Kenworth made a left turn into the path of the Suzuki, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles.

Pollard, who was wearing a helmet, was declared dead at the crash scene. Moffett was safely restrained and unharmed. While there is no suspicion of impairment, standard toxicology tests were taken for analysis. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Troopers witness the devastating outcomes of avoidable accidents far too frequently. They want to emphasize the importance of making responsible choices when driving. Avoid driving under the influence, when tired, or while distracted. It is crucial to obey all traffic laws and ensure that all passengers are wearing seat belts. While not all crashes can be prevented, following these basic safety measures can greatly increase the chances of survival in the event of a crash.

So far in 2024, Troop F has investigated six fatal crashes, which have led to six fatalities.
