Kentwood, Louisiana – On April 24, just before 9:30 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L started looking into a deadly crash involving one vehicle on LA Hwy 1057 by Pittman Road in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash resulted in the death of Samuel Raborn, a 70-year-old resident of Kentwood, Louisiana.
At the beginning of the investigation, it was discovered that the crash happened while Raborn was driving north on LA Hwy 1057 in a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado. The Chevrolet veered off the right side of the road and collided with an embankment, for reasons that are still being looked into.
Louisiana State Police indicated that Raborn was restrained at the time of the crash, but he suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the site. As part of the ongoing investigation, a sample was taken from Raborn for toxicology testing.
Troopers advise drivers to consistently make responsible choices when driving. Avoid driving under the influence, while tired, or when distracted, adhere to all traffic regulations, and make sure all passengers are wearing their seatbelts. Although not all crashes can be prevented, following these basic safety measures can significantly increase the chances of survival in the event of a crash.
