A Louisiana man has been arrested after allegedly punching, strangling, and threatening to kill a woman in Lake Charles.
Lake Charles, LA – Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were summoned to a residence in Lake Charles on November 7 at approximately 11:30 p.m. in response to a disturbance.
When deputies arrived, they discovered the suspect, Teddy T. Arvie, 41, Ville Platte, LA, had gone out the rear door of the home. During the investigation, deputies learned that Arvie, the victim’s acquaintance, arrived at her home and knocked on her door, and when she opened it, Arvie allegedly pushed his way inside. Arvie began shouting at the victim and threatening to hurt her once inside, at which point she was able to text a family member and tell them to call the cops. Arvie also allegedly punched the woman with his fists many times, pinned her down, and strangled her while threatening to murder her, according to deputies. The victim reported that she tried but failed to flee.
Arvie was eventually apprehended by Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies, and when questioned by detectives, he admitted to strangling the woman and made remarks about killing her. He was arrested and charged with attempted 2nd-degree murder and house invasion at the Calcasieu Correctional Center. His bond was set at $275,000 by Judge Tony Fazzio.
Detective Chris Duhon of the CPSO is the case’s principal investigator.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
