Westlake Hit-and-Run: Police Seek Suspect Driver and Vehicle with Extensive Damage

Westlake, Louisiana - A hit-and-run incident in Westlake, Louisiana, has left a 41-year-old man unresponsive in a ditch, prompting an investigation by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office (CPSO). On October 31, at approximately 2:00 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 2600 block of Miller Avenue, near Smith Ferry Road, in response to a report of a person in distress.

Upon arrival, deputies found Michael D. Welch, 41, of Westlake, unresponsive in the ditch. A preliminary investigation revealed that the incident was a hit-and-run, and detectives are now working to identify the suspect vehicle. According to authorities, the suspect vehicle is believed to be a car with damage to the front passenger side bumper, hood, and windshield.

The CPSO is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Detectives are asking witnesses or individuals with knowledge of the suspect vehicle to contact the CPSO at 337-491-3605. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
