Loreauville, Louisiana – A deadly single-vehicle crash occurred late Wednesday night on Louisiana Highway 3242 near Breaux Road, resulting in the death of 58-year-old Barry Boullion of New Iberia, Louisiana, according to Louisiana State Police Troop I. Troopers began investigating the incident around 11:30 p.m. on June 11, 2025.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Boullion was driving a 2016 Honda CRV eastbound on LA Hwy 3242 and was approaching a right-hand curve. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle crossed the center line, left the roadway to the left, and overturned. Authorities confirmed that Boullion was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, which led to fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A routine toxicology sample was collected from Boullion and submitted for analysis, which is a standard procedure in fatal crashes as investigators work to determine if impairment or other factors contributed to the incident. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Louisiana State Police.

Louisiana law requires all occupants of a vehicle to be properly restrained at all times, regardless of their seating position. State Police frequently emphasize that proper seat belt use dramatically reduces the likelihood of fatal injuries in crashes. While not every crash is survivable, simple precautions like consistent seat belt use greatly improve the chances of survival and can reduce injury severity.
