We will see the last full moon of the year and the decade tonight, December 11, 2019, into tomorrow, December 12, 2019. The moon will rise at 4:50 p.m on December 11 in Louisiana in the east-northeastern sky. It will then move west across the sky, peaking at approximately midnight the morning of December 12, before setting in the west just after 7 a.m.

The weather forecast for December 11th into the 12th calls for a clear sky with temperatures in the mid-to-low-40’s. Perfect weather to bundle up and head outside to take a look.

The full moon of December is sometimes called the “Full Cold Moon”, “Full Long Nights Moon”, and the “Oak Moon” among other names.

  • Full Cold Moon – The cold of Winter.
  • Full Long Nights Moon – It remains in the sky longer than any other full Moon of the year.
  • Full Oak Moon – People must find the strength of the oak tree within themselves to survive the trials of winter.
