Suspect Shot by Police After Reportedly Aiming Firearm at Officers During Traffic Stop, Louisiana State Police Investigating
Shreveport, Louisiana – The Louisiana State Police reported on September 15, 2022, that on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, around 2:10 p.m., Detectives assigned to the LSP Bureau of Investigations were requested to investigate an officer-involved shooting. Officers from the Shreveport Police Department were involved in the incident (SPD).
The early investigation found that the suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Charles Nathan Anthony of Shreveport, Louisiana was seen packing firearms into a vehicle on his parents’ home security system. The suspect’s parents then dialed 911 and asked for law enforcement to come to their home. Officers from the SPD arrived in the 600 block of Ashley River Road and saw Anthony leaving the neighborhood. During a traffic stop, Anthony exited his vehicle and produced a firearm. He then reportedly aimed a gun at the officers. Anthony was shot during the course of the interaction. Officers summoned EMS and began giving aid. Anthony was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment and is still in critical condition.
The Louisiana State Police is leading the investigation into this officer-involved shooting. The Louisiana State Police Crime Laboratory evaluated the scene. The investigation is still open and ongoing. More information will be made accessible when it becomes available.
