Super Snow Moon Largest Super Moon of 2019 Can Be Seen February 19

Super Snow Moon Coming February 19, 2019

In January we saw the “Super Blood Wolf Moon” and this month we will see the “Super Snow Moon”. While the Super Blood Wolf Moon was amazing to see since it was a Super Moon at the same time as an eclipse, the Super Snow Moon will be the largest Super Moon of 2019.

What is a Super Snow Moon?

It’s a combination of a Super Moon and a Snow Moon.

  • Super Moon: When a new or full moon coincides with when the Moon is at its closest point to Earth in its monthly orbit making it sometimes appear bigger and brighter.
  • Snow Moon: A Snow Moon is a Full Moon in February.

The Full Moon in February has also been called the Hunger Moon by Some North American tribes due to the scarcity of food and difficult hunting conditions during February.

The Super Snow Moon will rise at approximately 6:10 p.m. Central Time in the East-northeast. It will reach its peak in the sky, almost straight up, at around 12:30 a.m. Latter the Super Snow Moon will set in the West at 7:30 a.m. about an hour after sunrise.

If you’re interested in getting a better view of the Moon or if you enjoy stargazing, here are some neat items that allow you to view with your eyes as well as record with your phone using an included phone mount.

The first is a high-powered monocular telescope with a phone mount and remote for both Android and Apple smartphones for under $30. Click on the image to see more information and buy it on Amazon.

The next one is a set of HD professional binoculars for bird watching and stargazing. The binoculars also include a phone mount so you can view, record, and live stream what you’re looking at.
