Sulphur, Louisiana – The City of Sulphur has announced a series of road closures in preparation for the annual Christmas Under the Oaks Festival, scheduled to take place on December 6th and 7th, 2024. The closures are necessary to facilitate the setup and operation of the festival, which is expected to draw large crowds to the area.
The first set of closures will begin on Wednesday, December 4th at 12:00 pm, with Ruth Street being closed to through traffic from Cypress Street to Pecan Street. However, local residents will still be able to access the area. Later that evening, at 7:00 pm, Cypress Street will be closed from Ruth Street to Huntington Street. Additionally, Huntington Street will be reduced to one lane from Tamarack Street to Cypress Street, with the shoulder lane heading north down Huntington Street closed.
On Friday, December 6th, and Saturday, December 7th, Pecan Street will be closed from South Ruth Street to Pamela Street to accommodate the festival. This closure will be in place for the duration of the festival, with all roads expected to reopen by Sunday, December 8th, 2024.
Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly and allow for extra time to reach their destinations.
