Lake Charles, Louisiana – In a joint statement, the Superintendents of Schools in Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jeff Davis Parishes stated that they are closely monitoring the weather forecasts for the evening, overnight, and into the morning. They will be deferring decisions regarding closures until the morning of January 25.

The superintendents acknowledge that these late decisions have a significant impact on families, but they believe that assessing roadways and travel concerns in the morning will allow for a better decision. They understand the desire for an evening decision but emphasize the need to prioritize the safety of all stakeholders and provide high-quality education.

Announcements regarding the status of school tomorrow, January 25, 2024, will be made at 5 a.m. The superintendents apologize for the inconvenience and express gratitude for their patience and understanding.
