Skate City to Close After 37 Years of Family Fun

Skate City closed their doors on November 1, 2018, according to one of the final posts on the business’s Facebook page.

Another post was made to their Facebook page on November 6 letting people know that they were selling the contents of the building.

Skate City in Lake Charles announced that after 37 years, they will soon be closing their doors for good. The announcement was posted on the Facebook page of the skating rink on the evening of September 7, 2018. The post on the Skate City Facebook page talked about how they have watched children grow into adults and how thankful they are thankful for the past support of the community.

A recent story about old Sulphur roller rink – LaFleur’s Roller Rink Items to Go Up for Sale and in Brimstone Museum.

In the post, Skate City also invited everyone to come out and enjoy the roller rink while they can. The reason for the business closing was not mentioned in the post.

Skate City has announced that they will be having what could be their last adult skate on Thursday, September 20.

The post stated:

“We have had a lot of requests for another adult skate night. This could be our last adult event depending on the actual close date. Come skate, bring your friends, enjoy 80’s and 90’s music, and have a few drinks. We are working on an alcohol booth. If we can’t get one together we will allow you to BYOB. We will update soon.”
