Moss Bluff, Louisiana – A recent search and rescue operation in Moss Bluff, Louisiana, demonstrated the effectiveness of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office K9 Division. On September 27, authorities received a report of a missing elderly person in the area, prompting Lt. Nathan McKee and K9 Deputy Lusso to respond.
K9 Deputy Lusso, a 1.5-year-old Hanoverian Plott Hound, is the newest addition to the K9 Division and specializes in locating missing persons. In this particular incident, Lusso quickly began tracking the missing individual and within just 13 minutes, safely located the person in a small, wooded area near the neighborhood.
The Hanoverian Plott Hound breed is well-suited for search and rescue missions due to its strong tracking abilities and keen sense of smell.
Lusso’s successful debut in the field is a testament to the capabilities of the K9 Division and the importance of utilizing specialized units in search and rescue operations.
