Motorcyclist in Louisiana Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on LA 28 Near Holloway

Rapides Parish, Louisiana – A motorcyclist in Louisiana was killed in a two-vehicle crash on LA 28 near Holloway.

On May 23, 2023, Louisiana State Police (LSP) Troop E responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 28 East near Holloway, Louisiana at around 2:30 p.m. Walter Ray Tarver Jr., 61, of Deville, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.

According to LSP, the initial investigation found that Leslie Tam, 65, of Deville, was driving a 2006 GMC Envoy west on Louisiana Highway 28 East. Tam reportedly attempted to perform a U-turn for unknown reasons but failed to yield to an eastbound 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle. As a result, the Envoy collided with the motorcycle, ejecting Tarver.

Tarver, who was wearing a helmet, suffered catastrophic injuries and died at the scene. Tam, who was restrained, was unharmed. Toxicology samples were collected and submitted for testing.

Louisiana State Police indicated that while the reason for this crash is still being investigated, distracted and inattentive driving remains a significant cause of crashes in our state. Louisiana State Police advises all motorists to drive cautiously. A failure in judgment can have fatal repercussions.

Troop E has investigated 22 fatal crashes so far in 2023, resulting in 25 deaths.
