Louisiana State Police Joins Forces with Federal and Local Agencies to Ensure Student Safety

Louisiana - In the wake of recent incidents nationwide involving threats of violence against schools, the Louisiana State Police (LSP) has been working closely with federal, state, and local partners to investigate and share information. The goal of this collaborative effort is to ensure the safety of students, parents, and educators across the state.

According to the LSP, there are currently no credible threats to schools within Louisiana. However, the agency is taking a proactive approach to monitoring tips, leads, and information sources to stay one step ahead of potential threats. By working together with federal, state, and local agencies, the LSP aims to provide a safe and secure learning environment for students.

Making false threats against schools is not only a serious offense, but also a felony crime under Louisiana law. Individuals found guilty of making false threats can face up to 15 years in prison and significant fines. This is because such actions disrupt school operations, waste valuable law enforcement resources, and cause undue fear and anxiety among students, parents, and educators.

The LSP is urging anyone who wishes to report suspicious activity or concerning threats against the public to contact the Louisiana State Analytical and Fusion Center (LA-SAFE) at 225-925-4192. Additionally, the agency offers an online reporting system through a secure form, which can be accessed by visiting the LA-SAFE website at http://la-safe.org.
