According to the preliminary investigation by the Louisiana State Police Troop A, Michel was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his motorcycle. He was ejected from the vehicle and landed in the eastbound lanes of LA 935, where he was struck by a 2002 Ford F-250 traveling in the opposite direction.
Michel was not wearing a Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved helmet at the time of the crash, which is a critical safety precaution for motorcyclists. The driver of the Ford was properly restrained and uninjured in the incident.
