Larose, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police Troop C initiated an investigation into a severe crash involving a cyclist on Louisiana Highway 1 near West 54th Street on November 29, 2023, just before 2:00 p.m. Tragically, the crash led to the death of Henry Savoie, aged 66 and from Larose, Louisiana.

According to initial findings, Savoie was trying to cross LA Hwy 1 on his bicycle when he was struck by a northbound 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Despite being rushed to a hospital for treatment, Savoie sustained grave injuries and later succumbed to them.
A sample was taken from Savoie for toxicology analysis, while the driver of the Chevrolet cooperated and provided a breath sample that showed no alcohol present. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
So far in 2023, Troop C has investigated 27 fatal crashes resulting in a total of 30 deaths.
