Louisiana Man Killed in Early Morning July 1 Crash on LA 6

Louisiana – On July 1, 2022, at approximately 4:15 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 6, west of Many, Louisiana. Ronald Williams, 48, of Powhatan, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.

The initial investigation revealed that Chas B. Pilcher, 22, of Many, was driving a 2013 Lincoln MKT eastbound on Louisiana Highway 6. Pilcher’s vehicle crossed the centerlines into the westbound travel lane and collided with a westbound commercial vehicle for unknown reasons. Both vehicles were forced off the road as a result of the collision. The Lincoln then collided with an unoccupied structure, and the commercial vehicle collided with a creek ditch embankment.

Pilcher, who was restrained, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. Williams, who was also restrained, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Toxicology samples were collected and submitted for testing.

While the cause of this crash is still being investigated, distracted and inattentive driving remains a leading cause of accidents in our state. Louisiana State Police advises all motorists to drive cautiously. A lapse in judgment can have fatal consequences.

Louisiana State Police Troop E Troopers have investigated 18 fatal crashes so far in 2022, resulting in 19 fatalities.
