Livingston Parish, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit detectives arrested a 27-year-old Denham Springs man on September 19, 2025, for attempting to engage in sexual acts with a minor through online solicitation.
Patrick McManus, 27 of Denham Springs, Louisiana, faces charges of Computer-Aided Solicitation of a Minor and Indecent Behavior with Juveniles following a joint investigation between the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit and the Federal Bureau of Investigation that began in late August 2025.
The investigation revealed that McManus engaged in sexually explicit conversations with someone he believed to be a 15-year-old juvenile. Computer-aided solicitation of a minor involves using electronic devices or the internet to communicate with minors for sexual purposes, which is a felony under Louisiana law.
McManus was booked into the Livingston Parish Jail following his arrest. The case remains active with ongoing investigation, according to Louisiana State Police officials.
This arrest marks McManus’s second encounter with law enforcement for crimes involving minors. In 2023, Louisiana Bureau of Investigation investigators previously arrested McManus for Possession of Pornography involving Juveniles under the age of 13.
The Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit specializes in investigating crimes against children and vulnerable adults. The unit frequently collaborates with federal agencies like the FBI to combat online predators who target minors through digital platforms.
Both the Louisiana State Police and FBI have increased efforts to identify and prosecute individuals who exploit children online. These investigations often involve undercover operations where law enforcement officers pose as minors to identify potential predators.
The charges against McManus carry serious penalties under Louisiana law. Computer-aided solicitation of a minor is punishable by fines up to $10,000 and imprisonment with or without hard labor for two to ten years. Indecent behavior with juveniles carries similar penalties depending on the specific circumstances of the case.
Authorities have not released information about whether additional victims may be involved in this case. The investigation continues as law enforcement agencies work to build their case against McManus.
Parents and guardians are reminded to monitor their children’s online activities and educate them about the dangers of communicating with strangers on the internet.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
