Louisiana Man Arrested at Westlake Business Suspected of a February 26 Attempted Murder in Lake Charles

Lake Charles, Louisiana – A Louisiana man has been arrested at a Westlake business suspected of a February 26 attempted murder in Lake Charles.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) stated on February 27, 2023, that on February 26, at about 3:00 p.m., deputies were summoned to a residence on Highway 3059 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, in relation to a shooting.

Deputies arrived to find the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Authorities discovered that Ruben Acosta-Camacho, 45, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was the alleged shooter and had fled the site before they arrived.

Following an additional inquiry, deputies discovered Acosta-Camacho’s vehicle at a Westlake, Louisiana business. Deputies discovered Acosta-Camacho after canvassing the area where the vehicle was discovered.
He was taken to the CPSO for questioning, where he reportedly admitted to detectives that he shot the victim. He was arrested and put into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on attempted second-degree murder charges. His bond is still being processed.

The victim was sent to a nearby hospital for additional treatment.

Detective Lauren Manuel of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is the case’s principal investigator.
