Houma, Louisiana – A devastating two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 311 near Sugar Highland Boulevard on August 28, 2024, resulted in the tragic death of 29-year-old Garret Ellisor of Canyon Lake, Texas. The incident occurred shortly before 5:00 p.m. when a 2021 Yamaha motorcycle, driven by Ellisor, collided with a 2024 BMW X6 driven by Roy Miller Jr. of Houma, Louisiana.

According to the preliminary investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop C, the BMW failed to yield to the approaching motorcycle as it entered LA Hwy 311 from Sugar Highland Boulevard. Ellisor, who was wearing a Department of Transportation (DOT) approved helmet, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Miller, who was properly restrained, escaped uninjured.

The investigation revealed that Miller showed no signs of impairment and voluntarily provided a breath sample, which detected no alcohol. Standard toxicology samples were collected from Ellisor and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Troopers urge motorists to always make responsible decisions while behind the wheel, avoiding impaired, fatigued, or distracted driving. Additionally, drivers should take an extra moment to check their surroundings and yield to other vehicles on the roadway.
