Calhoun, Louisiana – A fatal single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 151 has claimed the life of a 38-year-old man, according to the Louisiana State Police. The incident occurred on September 29 at approximately 1:30 a.m. south of Louisiana Highway 144.

Dustin Varnado, the driver of a 2009 GMC Sierra, was traveling south on Louisiana Highway 151 when his vehicle left the roadway for reasons still under investigation. The vehicle collided with a wooden fence and overturned, resulting in fatal injuries to Varnado. Varnado was unrestrained at the time of the crash, according to reports from Louisiana State Police.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that impairment is not suspected, but routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and the Louisiana State Police are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
