Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Lake Charles Fire Department (LCFD) has announced a planned test of the Community Awareness and Emergency Response (CAER) sirens within its service area, which includes the City of Lake Charles and surrounding unincorporated areas of Ward 3.

In addition to the regular weekly siren testing, the LCFD has scheduled a special test for Monday, June 10, at 12:15 pm. During this test, a voice message will accompany the siren sound, stating, “This is a test of the CAER siren system, there is no emergency. Again, this is a test of the CAER siren system, there is no emergency.”

The LCFD wishes to reassure the public that this is only a test and that there is no cause for alarm. The voice message is an additional feature of the CAER system, designed to provide clear communication in the event of an actual emergency.

The LCFD requests that the public refrain from calling 911 with questions regarding this test. Instead, inquiries can be directed to the LCFD’s Administration Office at (337) 491-1360 or the LCFD’s Dispatch at (337) 491-1354.

Residents are encouraged to take this opportunity to familiarize themselves with the CAER siren system and its purpose in providing critical information during emergency situations. By conducting regular tests, the LCFD ensures the system’s functionality and readiness in the event of a real emergency.
