Vinton, Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced significant lane closures on Interstate 10 in both directions at the Coone Gully Bridge, located at mile marker 9.5 near Vinton, Louisiana. The closures are needed to allow construction crews to install sheet piles, specialized steel or concrete panels that support the ground and strengthen bridge foundations.

Motorists will experience closure of the left lane on I-10 eastbound and westbound on the following dates:

  • From 7 p.m. Thursday, June 31, 2025, through 6 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2025
  • From 7 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2025, through 6 a.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

These overnight and extended closures are part of ongoing bridge infrastructure upgrades in the Vinton area, aimed at improving safety and ensuring the long-term durability of critical travel corridors in Southwest Louisiana. Installation of sheet piles is a standard engineering method, helping support existing bridge structures, particularly during crucial phases of replacement or expansion work.

According to DOTD officials, crews will work throughout the nights and early mornings to minimize disruption. However, drivers should anticipate delays, adjust their travel times, and remain alert for signage and work zones in the coming weeks.

This closure is part of a broader transportation improvement initiative stretching from the Texas state line through Calcasieu Parish, with several major bridge upgrades underway or planned over the next few years.
