Hurricane Delta Update for October 7, 2020

During an evening press conference on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards indicated that several parishes near the Gulf Coast, including Calcasieu Parish, are under a voluntary evacuation order due to the threat of Hurricane Delta. UPDATE: Local officials issued a mandatory evacuation order for Calcasieu Parish during a press conference held on October 7, 2020 at 5 p.m.

A representative from the National Weather Service indicated that Hurricane Delta currently has the potential to make landfall anywhere along the Louisiana Gulf Coast. The storm is expected to move North-Northeast. A more accurate prediction of where Hurricane Delta will make landfall will be made once the storm moves further into the Gulf of Mexico.

The National Weather Service is expected to release an updated forecast Thursday, October 8, 2020.
