Sulphur, Louisiana – On Sunday, March 1st, at approximately 2:43 PM, the Houston River Fire Department was dispatched to a fire incident involving a shed that posed a threat to a nearby home in the 600 block of Brian Street, in Sulphur, Louisiana. Multiple units responded quickly to contain the situation.

Responding units included Engine 1, Engine 2, Service 2, Rehab 1, and Command Vehicles 91 and 92. The swift action of the firefighters proved effective, as the fire was brought under control without causing damage to the adjacent residence. All units were reported back in service by approximately 4:30 PM.

In addition to the Houston River Fire Department, the Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One also sent an Engine Company to assist at the scene. Acadian Ambulance was present to provide medical support if needed. During the incident, one firefighter sustained a minor injury. He was treated and subsequently released from a local hospital.

The shed itself was declared a total loss. In light of this incident, the Houston River Fire Department has issued a warning to the community. They advise residents to refrain from open burning during windy conditions, as this can significantly increase the risk of uncontrolled fires. Additionally, residents are urged not to leave any fire unattended.
