West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police Troop A began looking into a multi-vehicle collision on LA 413 in West Baton Rouge Parish on November 8, 2023, just before 6:30 p.m. The crash resulted in the death of Pleasant Rushing, aged 58, from Torbert, Louisiana.

An initial investigation found that a 2023 Hyundai Palisade was traveling south on LA 413 while Rushing was heading north on a 2000 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 motorcycle. The Hyundai attempted to turn left into a private drive and was struck by the motorcycle on the passenger rear side, causing Rushing to be thrown onto the roadway. While lying on the roadway, Rushing was hit by a northbound 2019 Ford Fusion.

Rushing, who wasn’t wearing an approved helmet at the time of the crash, died from his injuries at the scene. The drivers of both vehicles were wearing seat belts and weren’t injured.

Samples for toxicology analysis were taken from all drivers and will be examined later. The investigation is ongoing and any charges will be sent to the West Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney’s Office once it’s concluded.

Whether driving a motorcycle or a vehicle, it’s important for drivers to make responsible decisions while on the road.
