Extra Federal Unemployment Funds to Start Being Paid Out April 13

On April 8, 2020, Governor John Bel Edwards announced that federal unemployment funding had been received by the state of Louisiana. This funding is to be used to disperse an additional $600 per week to many Louisiana residents who are currently on unemployment due to the COVID-19. Workers with reduced hours who have filed a claim with the Louisiana Workforce Commission will receive $300 per week in addition to what they are currently receiving in unemployment benefits.
Governor Edwards said that the additional funds are expected to start being paid out on April 13, 2020.
