Lake Charles, Louisiana - Earlier in the day around 10:40 a.m., authorities from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office were conducting an investigation into vehicle burglaries. They were provided with information about a potential vehicle used by the suspects, which was believed to be involved in the burglaries. The vehicle was reportedly found at a pawn shop located on Ryan Street in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Upon the arrival of the deputies, they found the suspected vehicle situated in the parking area. As they tried to approach the individuals inside, the vehicle quickly left the scene, coming dangerously close to hitting one of the deputies. In response, the deputy shot a round into the vehicle.
The chase continued until the vehicle crashed near 5th Avenue and College Street in Lake Charles. One person involved in the incident reportedly tried to run away but was caught shortly after. Authorities found another suspect inside the vehicle who had been shot.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital and is currently receiving medical treatment. The individual who tried to escape on foot, along with another individual found at the establishment on Ryan Street, was apprehended and questioned.
The inquiry is currently in the early phases and is ongoing.

Sheriff Tony Mancuso has asked the Louisiana State Police to carry out an inquiry into the shooting incident involving the deputy.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
