Calcasieu Parish Schools Open September 15 After Being Closed Due to Threat of Flooding from Tropical Storm Nicholas

At 4:15 pm the Calcasieu Parish School Board has announced that all CPSB schools and facilities will be open tomorrow, September 15.

The Calcasieu Parish School Board has announced that all CPSB schools and facilities will also be closed on September 14, due to Tropical Storm Nicholas. They will continue to monitor the weather and notify families tomorrow as to the status of school on Wednesday, September 15.

The Calcasieu Parish School Board has announced that all CPSB schools and facilities will be closed on September 13. In the announcement, the school board said that due to the development of Tropical Storm Nicholas and the potential risk of flash flooding in undetermined areas of the parish, they feel this decision is in the best interest of students, faculty, and staff and was made after consulting with local emergency officials and meteorologists.

The school board indicated that they will continue to monitor the weather and notify families on September 13 as to the status of school on Tuesday, September 14. They encourage everyone to closely monitor the weather and make necessary plans for their family.
