Calcasieu Parish School Board and Sheriff’s Office Investigate Two More Incidents of Potentially Threatening Behavior at Moss Bluff Schools

On Tuesday, September 17, 2019, the Calcasieu Parish School Board released information indicating that the school board and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office had investigated two incidents involving potentially threatening behavior at two Moss Bluff Schools. One incident involved a social media post containing potentially threatening behavior about Moss Bluff Middle School. Another incident involved potentially threatening behavior towards Sam Houston High School. There have also been several other incidents that involved law enforcement and potentially threatening behavior at Calcasieu Parish Schools in September. The Calcasieu Parish School Board released the following statements regarding the incidents on September 17
“This information is for parents and guardians of students at Moss Bluff Middle School. The Calcasieu Parish School Board is aware of a social media post containing potentially threatening behavior. This incident, as with all incidents of this nature, was taken very seriously. It’s been fully investigated by both the Calcasieu Parish School Board and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.Any person, including students, exhibiting threatening or potentially threatening behavior will be met with immediate action by the district. Safety is always a priority in our parish, and actions such as this will not be tolerated.”
“This information is for the parents and guardians of students at Sam Houston High School. The Calcasieu Parish School Board is aware of a situation involving potentially threatening behavior towards the school. Like other recent incidents, this matter has been taken very seriously and handled quickly by both our staff and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.“It is so important for parents and guardians to have a conversation with their students informing them that threats against a school in any capacity will likely lead to school expulsion and potentially a legal charge for terrorizing.” – Superintendent Karl Bruchhaus”
