Lake Charles, Louisiana — Calcasieu Parish authorities have arrested three suspects in connection with the homicide of a Lake Charles man found dead near Highway 90 late last month. The investigation, led by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO), began shortly after deputies discovered the body of 23-year-old Kalin J. Stevens on the side of the 6700 block of U.S. 90 on Sunday, June 29.

Deputies responded around 11 p.m. to reports of an unresponsive male along the roadside. Investigators later confirmed the victim’s identity as Stevens and announced the case was being treated as a homicide, meaning law enforcement suspects a deliberate or unlawful killing rather than a natural or accidental death.

During the initial phase of the investigation, detectives arrested two men, Larry J. Bigelow, Jr., 22, and Titus T. Tezeno, 22, both of Lake Charles, on charges related to Stevens’ murder. The investigation did not stop there. After conducting interviews with multiple individuals and thoroughly analyzing available evidence, detectives determined a third person had a role in the crime.

On July 22, law enforcement executed a search warrant at the home of Timmesha N. Porter, 26, also of Lake Charles. Authorities allege Porter was involved in the homicide and helped conceal evidence tied to the case. Detectives placed her under arrest and booked her into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. She now faces a felony charge of accessory after the fact, which in Louisiana law means helping someone escape arrest or prosecution after a crime has occurred. Judge Tony Fazzio set Porter’s bond at $150,000.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
