Calcasieu Parish Mosquito Control to Spray this Weekend After Excessive Rainfall During the Week
Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury announced on August 26, 2022, that Mosquito Control will be spraying this weekend due to the increase in the rain this past week. Mosquitoes multiply when it rains. Because of the recent rain, Calcasieu Parish Mosquito Control specialists will be working this weekend to perform ground and aerial treatments throughout the parish.
Residents are asked to help by disposing of, draining, or turning over any water-holding containers in their yards. Asian Tiger mosquito eggs are laid in water. The most effective technique to prevent the eggs from hatching is to remove standing water sources.
Residents should also keep their arms and legs covered and use repellant at all times when working or playing outside, day or night. Mosquitoes are most active at dawn, dusk, and at night.
