Wreck in Lake Charles Causes Closure of I-10 in Both Directions near I-210

On June 29, 2021, an 18-wheeler carrying hazardous material overturned on I-10 causing I-10 near the I-210 interchange in Lake Charles to be closed for much of the day and into the early morning hours of June 30. The accident and hazardous material have now been cleared from the roadway, and I-10 has been reopened in both directions in Lake Charles.

I-10 in Lake Charles is closed in both directions due to a wreck involving hazardous materials on I-10 eastbound near the I-10/I-210 interchange in Lake Charles (mile marker 34).
As of 10 pm, I-10 eastbound and westbound remain closed at the I-10/I-210 interchange near Mile Marker 34 due to an accident. This closure is expected to last for an extended period of time. Congestion is eight miles in length. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route.
At 3:35 pm, Louisiana State Police said that the road will be closed for an unknown period of time. Eastbound motorists may use US 90 as a detour route. Westbound motorists may take LA 397 north to LA 3059 west to US 171 south to I-10 west as a detour route. Delays stretch to before these detour routes and attempted travel on I-10 through Lake Charles is discouraged at this time.
A separate 3 vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler, east of this crash, has also been reported on I10 west near mile marker 41.
