Lake Charles, Louisiana – The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a Wind Advisory for Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas, effective from 9 AM to 7 PM on Wednesday. Residents should prepare for significant southerly winds of 20 to 25 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 40 mph throughout the day.

These conditions can create hazards for the general public. The strong winds may cause lightweight objects to be displaced, create difficult driving conditions, and necessitate securing outdoor furniture and other loose items around homes and businesses.

Motorists, particularly those operating high-profile vehicles such as trucks, buses, and RVs, are urged to exercise increased caution when traveling on open roadways where crosswinds can be especially problematic.

The advisory comes alongside several other weather alerts currently in effect for coastal areas and waterways throughout Southwest Louisiana. These include flood warnings, coastal flood advisories, and small craft advisories along the coast, rivers, and other waterways.
