On June 25, 2021, a fire, heavy dark smoke, and flaring could be seen at the Westlake Chemical plant located at 900 Highway 108 in Sulphur.
As of 3 pm, June 25, 2021, it was reported that there were no injuries and no offsite impact from the fire or flaring.
The fire was reportedly caused by a compressor in the plant and has been extinguished.
