Westlake, Louisiana – Overnight traffic disruptions will affect Interstate 10 in Westlake as the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced scheduled maintenance work for late March 2025. The closures will impact eastbound lanes and the PPG Drive exit for one night, requiring motorists to follow a designated detour route.
The construction work will begin at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, and continue until 5 a.m. Thursday, March 27. During this seven-hour period, the I-10 eastbound auxiliary lane and shoulder will be closed, along with the Exit 26 off-ramp that leads to PPG Drive.
DOTD officials have established a detour route for drivers needing to access PPG Drive during the closure. Motorists will need to continue east on I-10 to Exit 27 (LA 378/Sampson Street), then enter I-10 westbound from LA 378. Once traveling westbound, drivers can take Exit 26 to US 90 and then the first exit from US 90, which leads to PPG Drive.
The temporary closures are necessary for mill and overlay procedures, which involve removing the existing road surface and applying a new layer of pavement. This maintenance work helps extend the lifespan of the roadway and provides a smoother driving surface.
Local residents and regular commuters are advised to plan accordingly for the overnight disruption, allowing extra travel time or considering alternative routes if possible. While the work is scheduled for overnight hours to minimize the impact on traffic, some delays may still occur in the affected areas.
