Westlake Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Sex Crimes Involving Juveniles

On January 15, 2021, the Honorable David Ritchie sentenced Edward Garriet III, 39, of Westlake.
From the Westlake Police Department – Garriet was sentenced to 10 years in the Department of Corrections, 5 years suspended, on one count of Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile, followed by 5 years probation concurrent with 7 years in the Department of Corrections for one count of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile, suspend all but 5 and followed by 5 years probation. His sentences were ordered to run concurrently with each other.
“Friday marked the day of closure for this defendant’s victims. It’s finally over. I hope his victims find comfort in knowing that they saved other teenagers from being victimized by him. I hope they realize how strong they truly are. Calcasieu Parish is safer because of their bravery.” said Calcasieu Parish Assistant District Attorney Denisse Parrales.
Westlake Police Department investigated the case and Assistant District Attorney Denisse Parrales prosecuted the case for the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office.
