Westlake, Louisiana - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced overnight left lane closures on La. 378, also known as Sampson Street, in Westlake from 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2026, through 5 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2026.
According to the state transportation agency, the closures will begin at the left-turn lane from the I-10 South Service Road and continue north along Sampson Street to a point 500 feet past the first set of train tracks.
The work is scheduled in the following phases:
- March 17: I-10 South Service Road left-turn lane to Sampson Street, ending 500 feet past the first train tracks
- March 18, if needed: I-10 South Service Road left-turn lane to Sampson Street, ending 500 feet past the first train tracks
The closure is needed so crews can perform coring work on the inside lane shoulder. Coring is a process that removes or samples sections of pavement or underlying material so road conditions can be evaluated or prepared for additional work.
The Department of Transportation and Development said the project is weather permitting, meaning rain or other poor conditions could affect the schedule.
Motorists traveling through Westlake at night near La. 378 and the I-10 South Service Road should expect reduced lane access and possible slowdowns in the work zone. Drivers are advised to use caution in the area and watch for crews, equipment, and traffic control devices.
La. 378, or Sampson Street, is a key local route in Westlake, and lane restrictions near the service road and railroad tracks may affect turning movements and northbound traffic during overnight hours.
No additional detour information was included in the announcement.
