Westlake, LA – Motorists in Westlake, Louisiana, can expect daily shoulder closures along various sections of Interstate 10 (I-10) and nearby roads, starting Monday, December 2, and lasting through Friday, December 20. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced the closures, which will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

According to the DOTD, the closures are necessary to conduct soil boring evaluations, a process that involves drilling into the ground to collect soil samples. This information is essential for engineers to assess the soil’s composition and stability, which in turn helps inform future infrastructure development and maintenance projects.

The affected areas include:

  • I-10 between PPG Drive and I-210, where the inside shoulder of the center median will be closed
  • The westbound outside shoulder of I-10 between Sampson Street and PPG Drive
  • The westbound outside shoulder of the PPG Drive exit ramp
  • The eastbound outside shoulder of the I-10 Service Road (SR-14) west of Sampson Street
  • The outside shoulder of Isle of Capri Boulevard east of Sampson Street

While the closures may cause some inconvenience to commuters, they are an essential part of ensuring the long-term safety and integrity of the region’s infrastructure. Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly, allowing for extra time to reach their destinations.
