Lake Charles, Louisiana – Beginning Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 7 a.m., the westbound lanes of West Sallier Street, between Ryan and Elm Streets, in Lake Charles will be temporarily closed for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The closure is necessary to facilitate repairs to an underground utility conducted by CenterPoint Energy contractors.

The decision to close the westbound lanes was made in order to ensure the safety of both motorists and pedestrians, as the repair work will involve digging and other potentially hazardous activities. CenterPoint Energy is taking this precaution to minimize any inconvenience to the public while swiftly addressing the utility issue.

Weather permitting, the closure is expected to remain in effect until 7 p.m. on the same day, January 10, 2024. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to plan alternate routes and allow for extra travel time during this period.

Local authorities are urging the public to adhere to all traffic regulations and to exercise caution when navigating through the affected area. Additionally, residents and business owners in the vicinity are advised to make any necessary arrangements to accommodate the temporary closure.
