West Prien Lake Road Widening Project Road Closures in Lake Charles

Lake Charles, Louisiana – On June 20, 2022, the City of Lake Charles announced a series of temporary road closures along the West Prien Lake Road widening project.

The following are the closure details for the West Prien Lake Road widening project in Lake Charles, Louisiana:

Beginning at 8 p.m. on Monday, June 20, both lanes of West Prien Lake Road at St. Francis Drive and extending about 50 feet north will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
This closure is to allow contractors to install a new sanitary sewer crossing.
Weather permitting; this closure is expected to last until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21.
Northbound traffic will need to detour via Prien Lake Road to Locke Lane and then Henderson Bayou Road. Southbound traffic will need to detour to Henderson Bayou Road then Locke Lane to Prien Lake Road.

Beginning at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, both lanes of Prien Lake Road, just north of the intersection of Ihles and Prien Lake Roads and extending about 50 foot north, will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
This closure is to allow contractors to install a new sanitary sewer crossing.
Weather permitting; this closure is expected to last until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22.
Northbound traffic will need to detour via Prien Lake Road to Locke Lane and then Henderson Bayou Road. Southbound traffic will need to detour to Henderson Bayou Road then Locke Lane to Prien Lake Road.

Beginning at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, both lanes of Prien Lake Road, just north of the intersection of Ihles and Prien Lake Roads and extending about 50 foot north, will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
This closure is to allow contractors to install a new drainage crossing.
Weather permitting; this closure is expected to last until 6 a.m. on Thursday, June 22.
Northbound traffic will need to detour via Prien Lake Road to Locke Lane and then Henderson Bayou Road. Southbound traffic will need to detour to Henderson Bayou Road then Locke Lane to Prien Lake Road.

Beginning at 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, both lanes of Prien Lake Road, just north of the intersection of Ihles and Prien Lake Roads and extending about 50 foot north, will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
This closure is to allow contractors to install a new drainage crossing.
Weather permitting; this closure is expected to last until 6 a.m. on Friday, June 24.
Northbound traffic will need to detour via Prien Lake Road to Locke Lane and then Henderson Bayou Road. Southbound traffic will need to detour to Henderson Bayou Road then Locke Lane to Prien Lake Road.

Beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 27, both the north and southbound lanes of West Prien Lake Road, between the intersection of Prien Lake Road and West Sale Road, will be intermittently reduced to one direction of travel at a time to allow contractors to restore the asphalt wearing surface of the roadway.
Weather permitting; these intermittent lane closures are expected to last until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 27.
