West Prien Lake Road and Sale Road Full Intersection Closure in Lake Charles Starting September 6

Lake Charles, Louisiana – The City of Lake Charles announced on August 23, 2022, that the intersection of West Prien Lake Road and Sale Road will be closed to north and southbound traffic on West Prien Lake Road and east and westbound traffic on Sale Road beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.

This full intersection closure is necessary to allow for the continuation of the West Prien Lake Road widening project, which includes subsurface drainage and sewage improvements as well as concrete construction. Nelson Road will be the main detour route for north and southbound traffic. Drivers are encouraged to avoid using Weaver Road as a detour because a second sidewalk and drainage project is also set to begin in the coming weeks.

From the Cove Lane traffic circle south to the intersection closure, only local traffic will be permitted. Barricades and signs will be put up.

It is recommended that motorists in this area allow for extra commute time, particularly during peak hours such as school arrival and dismissal times.

This closure is projected to continue until mid-December 2022, when the next phase of the project, which would affect Sale Road from West Prien Lake Road east to Rue Chan Ann, will begin.
