Wanted Louisiana Man Captured While Attempting to Reenter the State
Louisiana – Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet reported the arrest of a Lockport, Louisiana man on September 29, 2022, for outstanding warrants issued by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office. Leonte Keawaun Poindexter, 24, of Lockport, Louisiana, was arrested for charges of Obstruction of Justice, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Aggravated Assault with a Firearm.
Leonte Poindexter’s criminal actions were being investigated by Terrebonne Parish Detectives. Detectives found during the inquiry that Poindexter was thought to have fled the state of Louisiana to avoid capture. Through a cooperative investigation with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, Terrebonne Detectives learned that Poindexter was attempting to re-enter the state of Louisiana. Detectives acted on the information obtained, and Leonte Poindexter was detained at the Louis Armstrong International Airport just after 7 p.m., with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Offices of Lafourche and Jefferson Parish.
Leonte Poindexter was apprehended on the arrest warrants and then remanded to the custody of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, where he is currently being held on no bond at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex.
Sheriff Tim Soignet thanked all of the agencies involved in the arrest of this offender. Sheriff Tim Soignet stated, “This case is a great example of what Law Enforcement agencies can accomplish when we work together. This is a dangerous offender that was captured, and our communities are safer tonight, because of the work of our Public Safety Partners.”
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
