Voluntary Evacuation Order Issued for Parts of Beauregard Parish Due to Wildfire, Louisiana State Police Assisting

Beauregard Parish, Louisiana – A voluntary evacuation order has been issued for parts of Beauregard Parish due to a wildfire, with Louisiana State Police assisting.

Troop D of the Louisiana State Police is providing assistance to the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office and local fire departments in managing traffic control in the vicinity of an active wildfire located east of Merryville, Louisiana.

As a precautionary measure, the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office has issued a voluntary evacuation notice for the residents of Merryville, individuals residing along Highway 110, stretching between Merryville and Singer, and residents living in homes on Neale Field Road, east of Merryville.

Buses are available for transportation of the residents from Merryville Town Hall to DeRidder Junior High School.

At the time this was published during the evening of August 22, 2023, the evacuation is voluntary, but the situation may necessitate a mandatory evacuation in the future, as determined by the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities urge residents to remain calm and, if evacuating, to drive carefully.
