Violent Crimes Unit Arrests Louisiana Man Suspected in the June Murder of His Spouse
Ascension Parish, Louisiana – A Violent Crimes Unit has arrested a Louisiana man suspected of the June murder of his spouse.
Joseph Fogle, 38, from Chauvin, Louisiana has been taken into custody by the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office’s Violent Crimes Unit for the alleged murder of his spouse, Sonia Escalante-Baca. He has been charged with Second-degree Murder, according to Ascension Parish Sheriff Bobby Webre.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 28, at around 4:45 a.m., when deputies reached a residence on Hwy 74 in Gonzales in response to a death. Upon their arrival, they found Sonia Escalante-Baca, 43, dead inside her home with apparent blunt-force trauma. The Violent Crimes Unit of the APSO took over the investigation, and after obtaining sufficient evidence that linked Fogle to the crime, an arrest warrant was granted and signed by a local judge.
Fogle was arrested and transported to the Ascension Parish Jail for his alleged involvement in the murder.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
