Vinton, Louisiana — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced scheduled lane closures on Interstate 10 at the Hamptons Coulee Bridge (Mile Marker 9) near Vinton, Louisiana. The left lanes on both eastbound and westbound sides of I-10 will be temporarily closed as crews perform essential maintenance work.
According to DOTD, the closures are set for two distinct periods:
- From 8 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2025, through 9 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2025.
- From 8 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2025, through 12 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2025.
These closures will take place at Mile Marker 9, a location travelers may recognize as near the Vinton exit. The primary goal of the project is to allow workers to install sheet pile, which are large interlocking steel sheets used to support the sides of excavations or to shore up bridge foundations. Sheet pilings provide crucial structural support, especially in areas prone to soil shifting or water intrusion.
Motorists traveling through the area during these periods are advised to plan for potential delays and consider alternate routes when possible. DOTD indicated that all construction activities are weather-dependent. Poor weather conditions could delay or extend the scheduled closure times.
The state agency encourages drivers to remain vigilant, follow posted detour signs, and reduce speed near work zones.
