Vinton, Louisiana - On February 14 at approximately 4:00 a.m., deputies from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a call regarding a burglary in progress at a property located on Bellow Road in Vinton, Louisiana. Upon arrival, the deputies discovered that several unknown individuals had breached a fence to gain access to the premises and had tampered with surveillance cameras.
The investigation revealed that the suspects cut and stole copper lines from the property, causing damage to the infrastructure. During the initial search, law enforcement located a suspicious vehicle nearby on Stanley Road. They made contact with its occupants, identified as Harley J. Morgan II, 45, and Brian K. Karg, 28, both residents of Starks, Louisiana.
When questioned by the deputies, Karg reportedly admitted that he and Morgan, along with another unidentified individual, were involved in the burglary and theft that had occurred on Bellow Road. As a result, both men were arrested and subsequently booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
Morgan and Karg face multiple charges, including simple burglary, theft of less than $1,000, unauthorized entry of a critical infrastructure, simple criminal damage to property valued between $1,000 and $50,000, and tampering with surveillance equipment. Judge Kendrick Guidry set their bonds at $31,000. Additionally, Karg had four unrelated active warrants at the time of the incident.
The investigation into the burglary is ongoing, and authorities anticipate that additional arrests may follow as the case develops. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Corporal Austin Mareno is the arresting deputy, while Detective James Reed is leading the investigation.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
