Vinton, Louisiana – The Vinton Police Department has stated that they’ve been getting complaints about drones, also known as unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). In response to these recent reports, VPSO aims to inform residents about several drone regulations.

According to Louisiana law, it is illegal for drones to enter airspace above private property with the purpose of conducting surveillance on the property or individuals on it. Additionally, any drone weighing more than 0.55 lbs. must be registered with the FAA.

The Vinton Police Department is advising anyone who operates or plans to buy a drone to check out the FAA website for more information.
