Interstate 10 Westbound Right Lane Closure for Shoulder Reconstruction

Vinton, Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced a temporary closure of the right lane of Interstate 10 Westbound. The closure will extend from Exit 8 west to Milemarker 7 in Vinton and will be in effect from 9 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, until 9 a.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

Motorists are advised to take an alternate route if possible during this period. The suggested detour is to exit onto LA 27 at Exit 21 and head north. From there, make a left turn onto US 90 West and continue until reaching Vinton. At Vinton, take a left onto LA 3063 and utilize the on-ramp to re-enter Interstate 10 Westbound.

The closure is necessary to allow crews to perform shoulder reconstruction along this stretch of the interstate. By temporarily closing the right lane, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development aims to ensure the safety of both motorists and construction workers.

Shoulder reconstruction is an important maintenance activity that helps maintain the integrity and functionality of the roadway. It involves repairing and strengthening the shoulder area to ensure its stability and ability to handle the weight and traffic demands placed upon it.

Motorists are advised to plan their travel accordingly and to exercise caution in the area. Reduced speed limits may be in effect during the closure, so it is vital for drivers to adhere to the posted signs and be mindful of the presence of construction workers and equipment.
