Vinton, Louisiana - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development will implement two separate lane closures on Interstate 10 Westbound in Vinton this week to complete essential roadway maintenance and safety improvements.

The first closure affects the left lane of I-10 Westbound at Exit 4, located at Mile Marker 4.5. Transportation officials will restrict traffic beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, with the lane reopening at 6 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025. Crews will perform necessary roadway maintenance during the 11-hour closure period.

A second lane restriction will follow immediately after the first closure concludes. The right lane of I-10 Westbound at the Vinton Canal Bridge, positioned at Mile Marker 8.5, will close from 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, through 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2025. Transportation crews will install temporary concrete barriers during this overnight work period.

The concrete barriers serve as protective measures that separate traffic from work zones, providing enhanced safety for both motorists and construction workers. These temporary installations are standard practice during highway maintenance projects.

Both closures will restrict traffic to a single lane during overnight hours when traffic volumes typically decrease. The scheduling minimizes disruption to commuters and commercial traffic traveling through the Vinton area.

Motorists should expect delays and plan additional travel time when passing through the affected areas. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development recommends drivers exercise caution, reduce speeds in work zones, and maintain safe following distances.

The Vinton area, located in Calcasieu Parish near the Texas border, regularly experiences heavy truck traffic due to its position along the interstate corridor. Regular maintenance helps preserve road surfaces and safety features that accommodate this high-volume traffic.
